Easton in Kittitas County is a small community with 440 residents. Easton is located in the Cascade Mountains and is surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery, lakes and miles of trails. Easton was originally developed as a logging camp in the 1880s. The Northern Pacific Railroad increased activity in Easton. There are many outdoor activities to do in Easton regardless of what season. Snowmobiling and cross country skiing on many of the trails in Easton are very popular sports in the winter months. Hiking, fishing, and camping are a few of the outdoor activities that are done during the summer. Easton offers many places for bicycling. For beginners, the John Wayne Trail and the Snoqualmie Tunnel are easy trails to ride. The more experienced rider may want to try the Forest Service Trails. Lake Easton State Park is a 516 acre campground with 24,000 feet of shoreline along Lake Easton. The park is located in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains and has great hiking trails and beautiful mountain views.

Easton Weather & Climate

Central Washington , in the heart of the Cascades, has a temperate climate of mild summers and snowy winters. An average winter snowfall ranges from 50 to 75 inches in lower elevations. Snowfall gradually increases to between 400 to 600 inches above 4,000 feet. Some high peaks above 7,000 feet remain snowcapped all year. Snowfall usually begins in the higher elevations in September, gradually working down to 3,000 feet by the last of October. Above 4,000 feet temperatures occasionally drop below freezing even in midsummer. The temperature decreases approximately 3 degrees with each 1,000 feet increase in elevation. Mild, humid, summer days, temps rarely rise above 79 degrees F.
